Cranmore Infant School – Our Curriculum
At Cranmore Infant School, we want every child to feel happy, confident and excited to learn. Our curriculum gives children the best possible start by building strong foundations, celebrating individuality and helping every child to shine.
Our Curriculum Intent – What We Want for Our Children
We want our children to develop a love of learning that stays with them for life. They become confident, kind, independent and curious learners who experience a broad and balanced curriculum. Our ethos of 'Learning Without Limits' means we believe every child can achieve. We provide high expectations, equity of opportunity and experiences that nurture creativity, resilience and confidence. Inclusion and SEND: We make sure all children – including those with SEND or additional needs – can fully access an ambitious curriculum. We adapt learning so that every child can participate, make progress and experience success.
How We Teach and Support Learning (Implementation)
Our curriculum is taught through high-quality lessons and rich learning experiences. Teachers plan carefully sequenced lessons that build knowledge step by step, with clear explanations, modelling, vocabulary teaching and opportunities to revisit learning. In Early Years, children learn through purposeful play, continuous provision and talk-rich activities that promote exploration and problem-solving. We adapt teaching so that every child can thrive. This may include visual supports, pre-teaching vocabulary, targeted interventions, small-group work or sensory support. We enrich learning through trips, visitors, Forest School, Activity
Passports and opportunities to build character, teamwork and resilience. Full subject progression documents for each curriculum area are available on our website.
What This Means for Our Children (Impact)
We know our curriculum is successful because children are excited to talk about their learning, show confidence and curiosity, and make strong progress from their starting points. They develop secure foundations for the next stage of their education and demonstrate kindness, resilience and positive attitudes. Teachers continually assess learning and adapt teaching. Subject leaders review learning through lesson visits, pupil conversations and looking at children’s work. Our children leave Cranmore as happy, motivated and confident learners who are ready for the next stage of school.
Full subject-specific progression maps for each curriculum area can be found on our curriculum webpage.
