Science

The science curriculum aims to help children develop basic scientific ideas and understanding about the biological and physical aspects of the world, and the processes through which they develop this knowledge and understanding.

As a school we use White Rose Science scheme

It takes the highly successful approach pioneered with their White Rose Maths scheme and transfered it to the primary science curriculum. It uses a “small steps” approach to science teaching and follows the national curriculum for science for years 1 - 6. It gives specialist and non-specialist teachers a one stop solution as they help children develop scientific understanding and grasp scientific ideas.

White Rose Science teaches practical approaches to science in an engaging and logical way. At the same time, it provides teachers with all the guidance and supporting materials they need to plan and deliver a high-quality science education.

The schemes of learning provide full coverage of the national curriculum for science, but they don’t stop there. They also cover scientific questions around sustainability and the planet, and help children develop an empathy for the local and wider environment.
